Overview of Services

Welcome to the Glasswash and Autoclave Recharge Site for Byers Hall (1700 4th Street) and Genentech Hall (600 16th Street).  This site is used to manage the Glasswash/Autoclave recharge and Darkroom recharge for these two buildings. Glasswash/Autoclavbe recharge accounts are billed based on headcount. Darkroom recharge is billed based on the number of users. Typically, these costs are charged to faculty grants, but may be paid by the home department in support of their faculty. Billing for these services is done in arrears when actual expenses are totaled for the previous month. Expenses typically include cost of equipment service contracts and/or repairs, supplies and materials for operation of instruments, limited consumables for use within the facilities only, payroll for facility manager(s), and ITSF support/network and occassionally cost of equipment replacement.

Headcount Definition (updated 10/1/25)  

• Report ALL wet lab members including GSRs, visiting scholars, and shared employees. If a member is listed on your BUA or LHAT, they should be included in your headcount.
• Do not include 100% computational employees. The glasswash recharge does not charge for lab members who are 100% computational.
• There will be a minimum charge of 1 FTE per wet lab
• Provide SPEEDTYPE to charge. If you would like to use more than one speedtype, please be sure to include the Speedtypes and percentage allocations next to the speedtype.
